SAN ANTONIO — The Alamo has opened a new indoor Welcome Center in downtown San Antonio, designed to centralize visitor services and streamline the ticketing process for the historic site’s 1.6 million annual guests.
Located in a former commercial space on the northwest corner of the historic Menger Hotel, the new facility replaces the outdoor red ticketing shed that previously stood on Alamo Plaza. The center allows visitors to purchase tickets, book tours, and buy convenience items in a climate-controlled environment.
“This is one more step toward creating a seamless Alamo experience,” said Hope Andrade, president and CEO of Alamo Trust, Inc.. “The vast majority of our guests purchase tickets in person. A state-of-the-art, indoor Welcome Center will help them better understand the tours and experiences the Alamo has to offer.”
A second Welcome Center is scheduled to open next spring along the future Paseo del Alamo, which will connect the River Walk directly to the Alamo grounds.
