Ground broken for Latter-day Saint Temple in Fairview after redesign

FAIRVIEW— The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints  broke ground on the Fairview Texas Temple on Feb. 21, moving forward with construction following a high-profile zoning dispute.

Elder Jonathan S. Schmitt presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the 30,000-sq. ft. structure. The temple, situated on an 8.16-acre site, will feature a 120-foot spire. The building’s final scale is the result of a redesign submitted in March 2025 after local residents and city officials raised concerns over the height and scale of the initially proposed 173-foot steeple.

Once completed, the single-story building will be the 10th Latter-day Saint temple in Texas and the third serving the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
