Legal update: $60 million secured for woman paralyzed in construction zone

The Texas Construction News staff writer

CHICAGO – A $60 million settlement was reached Monday for Sarah Grasser, 31, who was paralyzed after her vehicle struck a massive pothole in a highway construction zone in 2022.

The lawsuit named several defendants, including K-Five Construction Corporation and AECOM, alleging the roadway was left in an unsafe condition. “The roadway was left in a condition that presented a clear hazard to drivers,” said Bradley M. Cosgrove of Clifford Law Offices. “Despite multiple entities being involved in the construction and inspection of the site, the roadway remained in use”.
