The Texas Construction News staff writer

AUSTIN — The University of Texas at Austin is preparing to break ground on a 216,000-sq. ft. residence hall specifically designed for the University of Texas School of Law. Located at the intersection of East Dean Keeton and Medical Arts streets, the 14-story tower will be the first of its kind for the law school.

The project is being developed by Greystar, with Lemmo Architecture and Design handling the primary design and Meeks + Partners serving as the architect of record.

Project specifications:

  • Residential capacity: The building will house more than 300 graduate law students in a mix of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units.
  • Specialized amenities: Recognizing the intense study requirements of law students, the design includes a massive “library-style” reading room and multiple private study chambers.

Timeline: Construction is slated to begin this month, with an expected opening for the Fall 2028 semester.
