HOUSTON — V.I.P. Independent Mortgage was named Grand Champion at the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) 2025 BBQ Cookoff, held Nov. 14 at the Rock Materials lot.
The “Lights, Camera, BBQ!” themed event drew more than 1,500 attendees and featured teams competing amidst decorations celebrating blockbuster movies from the 1980s, 90s, and 2000s. In addition to the overall title, V.I.P. Independent Mortgage placed second in the Best Beans category and third in Best Chicken.
Other category winners included:
- Best Beef: V.I.P. Independent Mortgage (1st), Acme Brick (2nd), Ellen Lighting & Hardware (3rd).
- Best Pork: Linc Plumbing (1st), Allpoints Surveying (2nd), Rock Materials (3rd).
- Best Chicken: HomePro Home Technologies (1st), Rock Materials (2nd), V.I.P. Independent Mortgage (3rd).
Richard Burcaw of Copperweld Bimetallics served as the event chair.
