AUSTIN — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has announced a new $138 billion investment planned for Texas transportation. The funding, formalized through the 2027 Unified Transportation Program (UTP), was approved by the Texas Transportation Commission in late August.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, the 10-year plan allocates $95 billion for statewide transportation projects and reserves $43 billion for routine maintenance and development. Abbott noted the investment aims to strengthen roadways, reduce congestion, and improve safety across rapidly growing Texas communities.
