WILLIAMSON COUNTY— Williamson County, the City of Liberty Hill, and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) celebrated the completion of a new roadway with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Dec. 2.
The project, formerly known as the Liberty Hill Bypass, has been officially named Freedom River Parkway. This section of the parkway constructed a new two-lane road from RM 1869 to CR 279/Bagdad Road, complete with turn lanes at both intersections.
The $14.44 million project was funded through the voter-approved 2019 WilCo Road Bond.
- Chasco Constructors was the contractor, and LJA served as the design engineer.
- The City of Liberty Hill donated the right-of-way for the project.
Pct. 2 Commissioner Cynthia Long stated that this segment of the parkway will help alleviate traffic congestion in downtown Liberty Hill and is part of the county’s Long Range Transportation Plan. This middle portion of the new parkway is part of a larger, three-phase effort.
