BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION— Knife River Corporation has secured a $112 million contract for materials and paving work on a major Texas highway improvement project, the company announced. The work, which began in December 2025, is scheduled for completion in 2030.

The project involves reconstructing and widening a 12-mile section of State Highway 6 in the Bryan/College Station area, expanding it from four lanes to six lanes. Knife River will serve as an asphalt and paving subcontractor to Fluor Corporation on the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) overall $671 million project.

Knife River will supply approximately 928,000 tons of hot-mix asphalt for the widened roadway, new bicycle and pedestrian paths, upgraded interchanges, and reconfigured auxiliary lanes.

The company’s Texas operations president, Rodney McCarn, stated that State Highway 6 is a crucial north-south artery for the Bryan/College Station area, Texas A&M University, and Brazos County. The highway improvement is designed to enhance capacity for commuters, freight, and emergency evacuation routes
