HOUSTON — Harris County’s Department of Economic Equity and Opportunity (DEEO) has rolled out new initiatives aimed at leveling the playing field for small and minority-owned businesses in the region.
The Regional Hispanic Contractors Association (RHCA) reported that the county is intensifying its efforts to eliminate economic disparities through its “Equity in Enterprise” programs. These initiatives are designed to increase access to government contracts for Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (M/WBEs).
Upcoming efforts include targeted workshops, such as the Harris Health Contractor Diversity Program Workshop scheduled for February 2026, which aims to prepare vendors for opportunities related to major county projects. The department continues to refine its certification recognition and vendor directories to ensure diverse firms can effectively compete for county work.
