ALAMO — Local officials in the Rio Grande Valley are preparing to highlight a major financial milestone for the community’s emergency responders. On Oct. 20, local leaders will host an official federal funding presentation for the public safety building in the City of Alamo.
The event, scheduled for 9 a.m. at Alamo City Hall, will formally introduce the federal dollars secured to support the ongoing development of the city’s new emergency response headquarters. The facility is intended to modernize operations for the Alamo Police and Fire Departments.
The City of Alamo originally broke ground on the public safety building in February 2026. At the time of the groundbreaking, city officials noted that the municipality was investing approximately $7 million into the project, with expectations of supplementing the budget through federal assistance.
The new building will replace aging infrastructure, providing first responders with updated technology, better training spaces, and improved disaster response capabilities. The public presentation will provide residents with an updated timeline for the facility’s eventual completion.
