WEBSTER — Aegis Aerospace Inc. has been awarded a $9.3 million contract modification from the U.S. Space Systems Command to support ongoing space-related research and development initiatives. The modification was detailed in the published contracts for Oct. 6, 2026, by the U.S. Department of War.

The award increases the total cumulative face value of the company’s existing contract from roughly $24.9 million to over $34.3 million. The work will primarily be performed in Houston, leveraging the region’s extensive aerospace and defense workforce to advance critical space operations.

According to federal contract records, the project is slated for completion by Sept. 30, 2034. Fiscal 2026 research and development funds totaling $654,507 were obligated at the time of the award.

The contracting activity is managed by the Space Systems Command at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Aegis Aerospace, formed through the merger of Alpha Space and MEI Technologies, continues to be a key contractor for defense and commercial space engineering projects across Texas.
