Fort Worth advances railroad safety upgrades

The Texas Construction News staff writer

FORT WORTH — The City of Fort Worth is continuing infrastructure improvements as part of its ongoing Railroad Safety Program. Managing 204 grade crossings—the highest per capita of any large city in Texas—the city recently initiated planning for railroad safety upgrades at the North Beach-Trinity Railway intersection. Municipal engineering staff continue to partner with the Texas Department of Transportation to replace standard crossbuck signs with modern crossing signals and gates while establishing specialized quiet zones.
