PECOS– Core Scientific has unveiled an ambitious expansion strategy to scale its Pecos, Texas, operations into a 1.5-gigawatt gross power capacity hub, specifically engineered for high-density artificial intelligence (AI) workloads.
Following the strategic acquisition of an additional 200 acres adjacent to its existing footprint, the company is pivoting from its legacy Bitcoin mining roots to address the global shortage of AI-ready infrastructure. CEO Adam Sullivan confirmed that approximately 300 megawatts of current capacity are being retrofitted for liquid-cooling and high-performance computing (HPC) requirements. The first dedicated AI data hall has entered the vertical construction phase, with the campus expected to reach a significant operational milestone by early 2027.
