SOUTH PADRE ISLAND – The U.S. Coast Guard has awarded a $200 million design-build contract to The Haskell Company for the comprehensive reconstruction of Station South Padre Island. The project marks a significant investment in bolstering maritime security and border enforcement capabilities along the Texas Gulf Coast.
The Jacksonville, Florida-based construction firm will oversee the demolition of existing structures and the construction of a modern, resilient campus. The project is scheduled for completion in 2028.
“This project will provide Station South Padre Island with modern facilities and empower them to continue operations to control, secure, and defend our southern border,” said Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Kevin Lunday in a statement regarding the initiative.
