NORTHLAKE — Gov. Greg Abbott recently announced a MP Materials rare earth magnet manufacturing expansion in Northlake that will bring more than 1,500 manufacturing and engineering jobs to Denton County.
The 120-acre structure, dubbed “10X,” will be located within the AllianceTexas development, less than 10 miles from the company’s existing Fort Worth plant. Once fully operational, the campus is expected to produce approximately 10,000 metric tons of neodymium-iron-boron rare earth magnets annually. These magnets are critical components for electric vehicles, drones, robotics, and advanced semiconductor fabrication.
The project is backed by a $200 million incentive package from state and local governments, including more than $66 million in grants from the Texas Enterprise Fund and the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund. Engineering and procurement are already underway, with commissioning targeted for 2028.
