HOUSTON — The Regional Hispanic Contractors Association (RHCA) is highlighting significant progress at the Lyndon B. Johnson (LBJ) Hospital expansion, a $1.6 billion project that promises to transform healthcare access in Northeast Harris County.
The project, which broke ground in 2024, has reached a “milestone moment” as construction advances on the new Level I trauma center. The expansion is part of a broader initiative by the Harris Health System to address the critical needs of the county’s growing population.
The RHCA emphasized the project’s role in fostering “progress, partnership, and purpose,” noting the collaboration between major construction firms and diverse subcontractors. The project team, led by McCarthy Building Companies, has focused on “mega project success” through improved onboarding and safety protocols, ensuring the massive undertaking meets its timeline for a projected 2028 completion.
