ARLINGTON – Drivers in Arlington and southeast Fort Worth should prepare for significant overnight delays as construction crews implement a full closure of westbound Interstate 20 at the Interstate 820 interchange.
The closure is scheduled to begin at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13, and will remain in effect until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, weather permitting. The closure is part of the ongoing Southeast Connector Project, a Texas Department of Transportation (TDoT) initiative aimed at relieving congestion in one of the region’s busiest corridors.
During the closure, all westbound traffic will be detoured to the U-turn at Martin Street. Officials advise motorists to seek alternate routes and expect delays.
Speed limits throughout the construction corridor have been reduced to 55 mph to ensure worker and driver safety. The $1.6 billion Southeast Connector project involves widening and reconstructing roughly 16 miles of I-20, I-820, and U.S. 287.
