ROUND ROCK – Williamson County officials formally opened the newly expanded Sam Bass Road (Corridor H) on April 24, marking the completion of a multi-year project to alleviate congestion in one of the state’s fastest-growing regions.
The $36 million upgrade, funded via the 2019 voter-approved road bond, converted a substandard rural road into a high-capacity three-lane thoroughfare. Key engineering features include a continuous center-turn lane, expanded safety shoulders, and a dedicated shared-use path to accommodate multimodal transportation. Additionally, the project integrated a critical waterline for the City of Round Rock, ensuring that utility infrastructure keeps pace with residential and commercial densification.
