WATSONVILLE, Calif. (AP) — Granite Construction announced it has been awarded an approximately $80 million contract by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to upgrade a section of Farm to Market 548 (FM 548) in Forney, Texas.
The infrastructure project will reconstruct the existing asphalt roadway, transforming it into a concrete-paved roadway with additional travel lanes and upgraded drainage systems. The scope includes over 200,000 square yards of 10-inch concrete pavement.
The project aims to increase traffic capacity and relieve congestion in the rapidly growing city of Forney and surrounding Kaufman County.
“Our home market strategy in North Texas is complemented perfectly by this strategic project,” said Steve Kaesler, Granite Vice President of Regional Operations. “It fits well with our core competencies and is a result of capitalizing on other wins in the nearby 2area.”
Construction is expected to begin in July 2025 and is slated for completion in March 2027.
