HOUSTON — The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) has broken ground on a massive project that represents the largest single facilities investment in the renowned organization’s history.
Known as “The Farm”—an acronym standing for Furthering our Agriculture and Ranching Mission—the landmark project will span 1 million square feet. Located on an 350-acre site along Highway 288, the construction project marks one of the most significant private investments in agricultural education and infrastructure within the state of Texas.
Once vertical construction is finalized, the sprawling complex will serve as an equestrian destination designed to bring together competitors, exhibitors, and spectators for international-level events. It will also radically expand the organization’s footprint for livestock and Horse Show activities, year-round youth programming, agricultural education, volunteer engagement, and diverse community events.
“As we move toward our centennial, the groundbreaking of The Farm reflects our commitment to building not only a world-class facility, but a stronger future for Texas youth and agriculture,” said HLSR board chair Wesley Sinor. “The impact of what begins today will be felt for generations”.
The new 1 million-sq. ft. complex is designed to complement the Rodeo’s long-established home base at Reliant Park.
The Farm is slated to open to the public in time for the 2029 show and rodeo.,
